Otto Ng . MArch (MIT)

Graduated from MIT, Otto is an architect and artist who examines multidisciplinary design boundaries with computation and technologies, including digital fabrication, programming, interactive art, robotics, industrial design and renewable energy.

Exploring the realm between "bits" and "bricks", while seeing ecological design as a contemporary imperative, a portfolio of work has been featured at TED, Mashable, Inhabitat, Dwell Magazine, Smart Planet Magazine and the Future Laboratory of London. Otto has also been selected by Perspective Global as one of the 40 under 40 Design Talents in Asia.

At MIT, Otto was the recipient of Full Tuition Scholarship, Alpha Rho Chi Medal and Schnitzer Artist Prize. As a researcher at the MIT SENSEable City Lab led by Carlo Ratti, he developed plans envisioning smarter environment and more ecological cities, and was the project architect of the awards-winning Copenhagen Wheel. He has also taught a Third-year M.Arch studio with Joshua Prince-Ramus (RE X) on iconography as well as a sophomore studio with Joel Lamere on computation and geometry.

He has been practicing internationally at Richard Rogers Partnership, Foster + Partners, Carlo Ratti Associati and CL3 Architects, where he specializes in building envelope design and parametric modeling. Upon his return to Hong Kong, he began teaching Master-level studio and programming class in collaboration with Jason Carlow at HKU - his Alma mater where he earned his Bachelor degree with First Class Honors and Alumni Prize Medal.
